From to

TU Wien, Austria

The Digital Humanism Summer School 2022 will take place 19-23 September, 2022 at TU Wien, Austria.

Digital Humanism (DigHum) is an interdisciplinary initiative integrating humanities, social, and technical sciences. It aims to describe, to analyse and, above all, to influence the complex interplay between IT and humanity for a society that fully respects universal human rights. Pursuing these goals, topics at the summer school include:

  • AI, humans, and control;
  • ethics and responsible design;
  • fair systems;
  • participation and democracy;
  • platform power, regulation;
  • work in a new world;
  • sovereignty and geopolitics.

The summer school welcomes PhD students from engineering, social sciences and humanities as well as interested people from industry, institutions and civil society. Leading scientists from the different fields involved will introduce the topics. A typical course is broad enough to provide a general introduction to the chosen topic, while covering the most relevant contributions in depth. In addition, there is ample time for discussions and presentations of participants' projects.

The summer school is organised by the Center for Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning (CAIML, TU Wien) the Digital Enlightenment Forum, and the Digital Humanism Initiative.
